Hi there, had the same troubles. I approached it from the mac side of things. I asked the mac from the bluetooth menu to set up the device. two go-m's will get you to the extras menu. From blootooth menu, just go to setup device. When the iPhone is detected select. You will hear a pairing request from the iOS device which needs to be given the okay from the device but it should work out alright. Got mine working like that.
