The audio jacks are located on the very back bottom panel of the mac mini. I believe from what I've read, the jacks are capable of accepting optical cables, provided they have the correct tips to correspond with the jacks. The left most jack, if you're looking at the mac mini, reaching around to the back, are, going from left to right, audio out, then audio in. They are located below the SD card slot. HTH
