Hi, Jed, If you're using Mountain Lion, go to system preferences, and press the Users and Groups button. VO past the toolbar and you'll find 'Users, groups and login options list". Interact with this list and go to "login options". Stop interacting and find the checkbox that says "use Voiceover in the login window" and make sure it's checked. Then you can safely command-w out of that dialog.
