This looks to me like a memory issue, there's very little RAM available when the device starts, even before I load anything, "free" reports
total used free shared buffers
Mem: 61828 60068 1760 0 244
Swap: 0 0 0
Total: 61828 60068 1760
Mem: 61828 60068 1760 0 244
Swap: 0 0 0
Total: 61828 60068 1760
So there's less than 2 MB of memory available?? The device is advertised as having 64MB of RAM, but how can I increase the amount that's actually available to applications?
Thank you,
Razvan

Ok, I've been playing with this thing a bit more and I am having a problem: I start Asterisk from a SSH shell (faster to use my computer's keyboard then the builtin VKB). All works fine, but sometimes (apparently randomly), Asterisk gets killed. It doesn't crash or anything, it is simply killed...I have read that this can happen to applications started from the app launcher. But I am not using that, I'm simply starting it from command line, as root. Is there some kind of watchdog in Maemo that could kill the process? Thanks for your support guys!Razvan

Well done!! So not only have you turned the 770 into an IAX VoIP phone
(ok, the console client still needs to be connected to BT), but you have
managed to create a real "mobile office" :)
I am running a fairly sophisticated Asterisk setup here (POTS, ISDN, IAX
and SIP termination, Cisco 7960's, xyzels, doorbell, you name it), so if
I can help with some testing or something...
