Following on to what Hans-Martin said:

The only way to directly know whether email is getting to the inbox is to send 
email to that email address and see where/whether it shows up (inbox, spam 
folder, not at all).

This is why we recommend that service providers have test email addresses at 
the major pain points (Google, etc.) that they have their customers add to 
their customers' mailing lists.
