in our work, we make a map that shows percent racial minority. it uses blue.
darker blues indicate more minority. since we mostly work in the south east,
it usually means that darker blue color = more black people (or the more
lighter the color, the more white people).

no one has ever commented on our color choice, one way or the other in about
7 years, so using blue to indicate minority presence is probably ok.
