This sounds great; however, I would question the value of the datasets that
the others provide if they are only $100. Businesses change quite
frequently. We subscribe to iMarket (which includes D&B data) and the
American Business Disk and import these data into our mapping projects on an
as needed basis. iMarket is updated 4 times a year and ABD is update twice
a year. The data is more than $100 because there is value in keeping the
database as updated as possible.

Subject: [Maptitude] Bundling of National Business Listing Data with
Maptitude 4.5
Importance: High

Maptitude - http://research.umbc.edu/~roswell/maptitude.html

To other Maptitude/Transcad Users:
How many users would like to see a national business data base (names,
addresses, phone numbers, lat/lon, sic code, etc.) bundled with
Maptitude, perhaps with the near future 4.5 release upon completion of
beta testing? Delorme has a product out now called XMap Business which
offers this dataset with nationwide pin-mapping capability for $100.
Microsoft's MapPoint offers the similar capability in a similar price
range. So I'm wondering how much it would increase the cost of Maptitude
to cover the unit cost for bundling such a data set with Maptitude.
Personally, I think it would help stimulate the public-sector
comprehensive planning/zoning, and private sector retail, real estate
and business-to-business markets for Maptitude. Moreover, such a
database could be an asset to Transcad users for regional and local
transportation planning.
Any thoughts or comments anyone (Caliper included!)
Thanks
