It will take continuing pressure from the overwhelming majority of USian's, middle class, voting minority ( most people don't vote most of the time) to end the war on Iraq.
As to O's election, in itself, it will be insufficient to fullfill the promise to withdraw the troops from Iraq. That will require election of a heavy majority Congress with the same position. If the Congress and President are elected on an " end the war" platform, they will probably end the war. I mean even Nixon ended a big colonialist war, because the popular pressure was so great to do so. The revolutionary_ potential_ is in advancing the unity of White and Black (Red, Brown, and Yellow) workers in the US. The potential is signalled in the wilingness of so many "middle class" Whites to vote for O. It will have to elaborate in form from this in votes for many, many other offices, particularly for Congress in the immediate election, but in several years of elections , federal ,state and local. It will take and be a full reversal of Reaganism. Reaganism didn't get in in one election, and it will take more than one election to get rid of it and move forward from the absence of Reaganism. Realization of this potential, through gigantic struggles to come, is not certain at this point.
