Gary: "What they have got is an excuse to intervene and Gaddafi has given it to them." Considering that at least some of the rebels were calling for outside intervention (in the form of no-fly zones, not to mention arms supply) almost from day one, the claim that this intervention was given to imperialism by Gaddafi is a highly debatable one, to put it mildly. Whatever one's assessment of Gaddafi and the nature of his regime, Gaddafi was faced with an armed rebellion. Was his proper reply to "turn the other cheek"? Only imperialism pretends that should have been his response, since imperialism likes to pretend that the right of armed response is reserved to it alone (and its allies, as in Bahrain/Saudi Arabia).
