People do perceive movies differently. I don't think that a commercial
entertainment enterprise is quite the same as an overt institutional
government propaganda flick.

Articles on the impact of "Birth of A Nation," when it was released in
1915, are available on line. It was used for the purpose of its production; as
an organizing tool for reaction. "Birth" fed the growing war frenzy of
1915 and accelerated the conversion of ideological white chauvinism into a
material force. Watching the film today is very different from viewing it in
1915, 1930, 1950 or even 1970. Today, showing this film nationwide would not
have the same impact because of deep demographic changes; the over throw
of legal segregation, changes in the class composition of society at large
and deep on going changes in the post segregation ideological sphere.
Changes in international diplomacy are needed.

Today, other kinds of films are needed domestically and in the
international arena. I have in mind the upcoming film on the Karate Kid,
designed to
buttress ideological unity between sections of the ruling class in America
and China. Will and Jada Smiths son start with Jackie Chan in this remake of
the Karate Kid. The ruling class understands the impossibility of uniting
domestic reaction, simply on the basis of ideological white chauvinism as a
leading form of reaction. Further, international relations and China's
restoration of her role in world events makes it critical for America to
approach the world very different.

That is why there is an Obama.

Hey, there has been three "Rush Hour" movies and the last one was just as
good as the first. And of course "Romeo must Die."

Movies are always about more than capital reproduction. Not that you
implied this.
