You can't reach the masses through the DP. As Mark pointed out, it is not a membership party like British Labour. You don't "join" anything. You register as a Democrat, a Republican, Independent or one of the 3rd parties like the Greens or the Libertarians. That entitles you to vote for their candidates every 2 or 4 years. I am a registered Green but don't "belong" to it since, like the bourgeois parties, it is mostly an electoral machine. The late Bruce Dixon, Howie Hawkins and people like me and Mark Lause would like it to turn into a membership party even as loosely knit as the DSA but it's an uphill battle.
