Here then is the link to the BLS’s yearly statistics on the Number of Annual Work Stoppages Involving 1000 or more workers 1947-present: https://www.bls.gov/web/wkstp/annual-listing.htm Over the past 80 years, the number of major strikes fell from 437 at the.beginning of 1953 to 35 strikes by the end of the survey period last year.- an 80% decline. 1.623,000 workers were walking the picket lines at the start of 1953 and 458,900 workers were out when the BLS last gathered its data in 2023. The number of annual strikes never dopped below three digits in each of the 34 years between 1947-1981 and never topped double digits in the 41 year period from 1982 to the present. The number of total days lost to work stoppages rarely fell below 10 million during the first period and rarely rose above it during the period of decline.
