I am astonished by this discussion and that we still discuss the nature of Stalinism.
I have already given my opinion regarding socialism or Stalinism in so-called socialist countries including the Soviet Union and others, Sometoimke I put that in the wrong topic and I apologize for that. Maybe I missed the topic again. Somehow some on this site do not understand that the essence of socialism is worker democracy. If there is no worker democracy there is no socialism. It is as simple as that.
