Wasn't the regime's blackmail provoked by the US blackmailing the Venezuelan people into voting for the opposition? Was not the promise of the blockade being lifted if the opposition won and being retained if Maduro's PSUV was re-elected the decisive factor in the outcome? It makes me uneasy to be sanctioning this process since it was another example of how US imperialism employs coercive blackmail rather than the masses genuinely exercising their democratic rights.
