I thought the Dewey "investigation" was more general than that -- I stand corrected. OF COURSE that doesn't mean I believe the garbage the came out at the trial with all these people confessing to outrageous crimes going back the Revolution itself --- (I'm glad the economist Preobrazhenskyi whose work I highly respect) refused to play the game and confess ---- Stalin and the Soviet people were VERY LUCKY that the Nazis failed to take both Leningrad and Moscow --- (did "general Wiinter" play a role?) --- then the heroism of the RED ARMY in Stalingrad turned the war around --- The failure to be totally prepared for the NAZI blitzkrieg in June of 1941 allowed the Germans to advance quickly and deeply into Soviet territory -- probably the result of Stalin decimating the officer corps.
