Marv:
I believe I have made my answers to these queries you pose to me before. But I
agree they are both important and recurrent, so that is no problem. If I did
not have responses to them in the article originally posted, it was because I
thought we had made our views clear. Perhaps most crystallised in:
https://mlrg.online/politics/zohran-mamdani-a-preliminary-marxist-leninist-assessment/

Nonetheless specific brief remarks on your queries - Marv you said :
i) 1. “A Leninist party was and would again be necessary to lead a
revolutionary crisis to a successful conclusion, and I don’t see much harm in
the small Leninist groups recruiting cadre in preparation for that eventuality.
But given the current level of political consciousness of the most advanced
workers (such as those supporting Mamdani), they have remained on the margins
during our lifetime.”

My response - correct. There are lots of reasons for that which I will not
re-hash unless further prompted. Only to say, that there is little doubt in my
view, that the fall of socialism in the USSR after 1953 and the failure to
resist imperialism in the Peoples Democracies - was a major reason for the
renewed life in the moribund Western imperialisms. I do not deny also that the
assessment that the hold on innovations for the bourgeoisie by the social
relations was able to be overcome by further technical breakthroughs. Once more
- it took about 4-500 year for the bourgeoisie to break thru' feudalism. The
ground shakes, but when the. cataclysm really comes....

2. Marv : ""The present contradictions in the system will have to sharpen to
the point of collapse before the working class loses confidence in the
possibility of its reform and moves towards revolutionary politics essentially
on the basis of its own experiences in struggle.”
https://groups.io/g/marxmail/message/40115
My response - Isn't that was one of the messages in my view of the look-back at
the view of M&E on organisations at my earlier note? See at:
https://mlrg.online/history/views-of-marx-and-engels-on-revolutionary-organisations/

3. Marv says : "A more appropriate model IMO which corresponds to the current
level of class struggle is the Marxist study group or caucus, not unlike
marxmail but active outside of social media. The fastest growing is the DSA
which functions as a left social democratic caucus within the Democratic Party
but which also independently recruits trade unionists and radicalizing youth to
its ranks."

My response I have myself written for DSA when some young cmdes asked on
Afghanistan, although I was surprised to be asked. But yes - they are a
grouping not to be ignored as a potential source of new eager cmdes. But the
constraints of their organisational thinking should not be minimised in my
view. Some Marxist-Leninists may say it is a question of either-or. I have
never adopted that viewpoint. Any Marxist know you have to be where the people
are.

But this is not the same as the crude "entryism" that was widely adopted at one
stage by, i think it is entirely fair to say, many Trotskyist parties.
Certainly in England with the Militant or even if I recall right the IMG and
SWP. I cannot comment on the waffle in Canada - too little detail to hand. But
all this was in sharp contrast to the applications of the then genuinely
communist party (before its slide into revisionism) - the CPGB in its open
application to the Labour Party. As M&E always said - be open about your
independence. Meaning - your communism.
