In other words it is addressed generally to those who consider themselves anti-Imperialist. The blind spot, the author writes, are those that support struggles for self-determination and side with the working masses against repressive state machinery but stop at Iran. It's pretty obvious who the writers is aiming this at.
As to your point, the binary type discussion always gets hung up on the details of the class struggle...those of us who support the demand "US Hands Off Iran" also have a lot to say about the theocratic regime in power as well. The "Campists" as the author designates ignore, totally, the class struggle in whatever country is targeted by the U.S. You know that his is what the letter is about, Mark. The only debate "US Hands Off Iran" is how to build a movement that can challenge Trump on this question. But to ignore the class struggle and the history of the Islamic Republic and it's very nature, is not a Marxist position...nor is it an anti-Imperialist one. My issue, again, is that the author waves around "Campism" as if anyone and everyone knows what that is. It is a letter to the socialist left and those that line up with one side or other other in this question. But he doesn't quote, he doesn't ask who specifically is being charged with this. Hari is 100% correct on this. The writer should name names of folks who are public about this or groups that have ignored the on the ground struggle for democracy in Iran.
