I don't know anyone in Palestine or Ukraine, Mark. My reference was to the political sentiments of the pro-Palestinian activists I've met here. It was once reasonable to expect international solidarity between clsss-conscious peoples waging intertwined anti-imperialist and socialist struggles, but that has never been my expectation in a world riven by peoples and movements infected with ethno-nationalist and religious prejudices and ideologies. However, In defence of the Palestinians and Iranians, they do not receive arms and other essential forms of support from Western imperialism. The same is not true of the Israelis and Ukrainians. The beneficiaries of Western imperialism obviously support it and become its proxies and those victimized by Western imperialism oppose it. Fortunately, populations without a stake in the outcome as in Canada and elsewhere in the West have been moved by the plight of the Palestinians and have increasingly broken with both the pro-Zionist policies of their governments and the related massive increases in military spending justified to meet the existential threat ostensibly posed to them by Russian and Chinese "imperialism". -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
