I have been thinking along the same lines, although I find it hard to believe
Trump has such a rational strategy for anything. His (or whoever's) strategy
seems to be the disruption of Chinese economic growth at the expense of US
domestic growth. Maybe slightly less irrational, the attacks have broken up the
China-Iran-Saudi alliance. Haven't they?
