It's a commit by you. Maybe it's just the evil font cache. :-) It's not the ft2font, notably, this was apparently imported properly; it's just some initialisation code of matplotlib that seems to fail while importing matplotlib.figure. I verified clearly; the commit mentioned fails, and its predecessor succeeds. I did patch the _png.cpp to make it work; it didn't comply with libpng-1.4 that time. I can upload the branches for testing the two commits to my repo.
