>> UFS (don't use unless you have the hair to spare)

I forgot to ask about that one previously.... Do you
know what the deal is there? I understand that
Classic can't deal with UFS, but what else is there
about UFS that makes it such a pain to deal with?

Having ext2 support would allow people switching from
Linux (especially the PPC versions) to bring their
data over to the new system more easily. Even read-only
ext2 support would be sufficient for that. Tar'ing up
data & copying to an HFS partition (or tape) works,
but if you miss anything you have to switch-boot back
to Linux to get it.

I just loaded OSX onto my beige G3 (which has been
running mostly Linux) last night... still have the 10.1
update CD & all the Software Update stuff to load yet.
No doubt I'll be asking all sorts of why-for and "how
do I turn off the eye candy" questions next week.
