Is this file compressed (bin hex or whatever it is called in the world of 
Macs) or is it a simple image?

I have installed all the tools needed to fomat floppies as hfs and I have also 
tried  a simple dd if=file.bin of=dev/fd0 but while the copy is made the disk 
cannot be mounted either locally or by the Mac.
