Missed seeing that page, it looks like PPC is better supported by Debian than I thought.
I haven't tried to install Debian since a Quadra 600 ;)

pdisk compared to a gui Macintosh tool? mac-fdisk is mentioned in the docs.

And the link to the mac-fdisk man page is dead ;(

I have used pdisk from the command line-
[EMAIL PROTECTED] chasd]$ rpm -qf /sbin/pdisk
pdisk-0.8-1b

It is also available with a Classic GUI wrapper.
I usually format/partition with DriveSetup, then change the partition types with pdisk.

This
http://cantaforda.com/cfcl/eryk/linux/pdisk/
says that mac-fdisk is a old version of pdisk.

and on a the "Questions and Answers about pdisk" page there is this comment-

" used linux before can't I just use fdisk?
Nope. fdisk uses the Wintel/DOS style partitioning, a completely different scheme. "
