As a user of NetBSD 1.6.2 on a 7300, yes, it works fine. You'll need to
do a couple of tricks; you have to set Open Firmware's output device to
/chaos/control, and on Open Firmware ROMs of this generation, you need to
put in a kludge to control refresh rate and a couple other things as well.
Once this is done, the 7300 will boot NetBSD directly, no MacOS partition
required.
