Arrg, I was working on just this very thing on my Quadra 840AV, but looks like I've been beaten to the punch :) Ah well. I was having some unexpected problems due to trying out a 2.6 kernel and segfaults. Ran fine for three years on 2.2, shoulda left well enough alone. On the other hand, if I got it started tonight, I might be the first to a booted OS X on a 68k ;) 840AV is a fun box for Debian, but the lack of DMA for the SCSI is a bit killer. All the same, good job Dana. If I ever get mine running we'll have to compare notes on speeds. It'll be interesting to see if the Linux is optimized enough for the extra mhz to be noted.
