Because MD-II has capabilities YAM doesn't. For instance, MD-II is
also a news client. YAM can be used for Usenet, but setting it up is a
manual operation that MD-II does simply and easily with mouse clicks.
MD-II downloads the news-server's full list and adds newsgroups just
by clicking on them, then subscribes or unsubscribes simply by menu
selection. I would never use YAM as a news client, although I know
that many people do and are quite happy to do so.
What do you use for Usenet? Stargate is now freeware, and probably
quiet competent. However, I wonder if it can email a reply to a NG
message as MD-II can. NewsRog is still commercial, and regarded as one
of the best, but since I have MD-II from NetConnect, it would seem
pointless to use any other.
The idea of doing Usenet from deja.com or remarque.com via a browser
makes me shudder. I'll leave that to people with crippled systems like
Windows
