Yeah, I noticed that with 1.54, 1.98 and the earlier MDII revisions.  Of
course now it doesn't happen with 1.4, because I keep the server clean
with YAM.  I've used MDII for a few weeks while my computer was in the
shop and deleted mail on server, and that way, noticed no problems.
