I get the opposite: no new messages after a while on groups I know
get new feeds daily. This happens ramdomly -- time-wise, but usually
to same groups. It's as if, MD2 has unsubscribed me without asking.
I correct it by deleting the group, adding it back, resubscribing,
then download the last 100 messages. This seems to reset the message
pointers and everything works as it should -- until the next time it
goes wrong.

It's a bug -- an annoying one -- and it's going to be a long time, if
ever, that it gets fixed. (I'm using version 1.4.4)
In the mean time, besides the pseudo-fix I mentioned above, download
just the message headers -- takes less time, then pick what messages
you want to read and just download those. Works well enough for
me.
