Just one quick point, which I think you missed.

Even assuming that you're right and the coaxial input has some effect
on the analog playback electronics, please explain how you would
expect this to have any effect.

Remember, when making a digital recording the analog electronics are
not used.

When playing back, the original source (optical vs. coaxial) is not
remembered anywhere and thus can have no effect.

I.e. Recording and playback happen at separate times. Got it?
