I recently got myself a used car, and I know that kits are available so u
can
play a CD walkman thru a car stereo. I was wondering, as I dont have one of
these yet, could it be used to play an MD thru my stereo as well as my CD
player?

Yes it can. The adapters that you talk about can be used with a Discman or
MD Walkman or portable MP3 player, and make these units a whole lot more
versatile. Because they work in any car, you can move them around from car
to car. They will come in handy if you are using a company vehicle or are
renting or borrowing a car -- you can listen to your MiniDiscs in whatever
vehicle you are using.

Using a cassette adapter alongside a cassette-8 track converter would mean
that you can pipe your Discman or similar device through an eight-track
stereo built into a 60s-70s American classic car without ruining the car's
value by removing the factory-supplied stereo.
