this is interesting... in under (four?) months of purchasing a sony mz
r37, the unit already seems to be done for... it has worked rather well
for a while, until today

i recorded an md this afternoon, off of a cd, via a digital connection...
seemed to go fine, tho i was in another room for the most part

so, i figured i'd give the copy a listen... instead of music, i heard a
bizzar, mechanical noise... well, it turns out it wasn't the garbage
disposal, it was the md... i did get some noise out of it, once... played
the first track, sort of... still made all of that noise, tho

tried it out with a bunch of different discs i made, tdk's, color sony's,
and old sony's... nothing... so it's not the media

seems as tho it's just searching, all over the damned place... other than
that, i can't really pick up any other noise that makes sense

i'm thanking myself for paying the $40 at best buy for the servicing
(stuff)... going to head up tomorrow and see what i can do... maybe i can
get another unit... but hell, if i just get this one fixed, i'll be happy
enough

if any of this sounds familiar, or if you have any insight to the
situation... well, thanks
