Does the lever go down completly or is it blocked half way? If it goes
down completly, I think you've got a shutter that doesn't shut anymore (I'm
talking about the shutter on the MD). This can cause the MD to block. I
had this before with Maxell discs. If it goes only half way down, the lever
is blocked by the device itself. Look if the display reads TOC. If so,
try the updating toc procedure.....
