I installed an Aiwa CD player in my minivan recently and it has a jack
to plug in my minidisc recorder. It seems to work well except I only
have a short cord for the MD recorder, so I has to lay flat on the
drinking cup tray of the minivan. The problem I have is the Michigan
bumpy roads. When I go over a bumpy streach witht eh MD laying flat, it
sometimes skips, and sometimes even bounces off the cup holder onto the
floor, unplugging it. I have noticed that if I stand the MD so it is
vertical instead of horizontal, it doesn't seem to skip. It must be
that when it is horizontal, the optical head bounces away from the disc
long enough thta the buffer runs out as the MD is seeking the place it
was bounced from. With it vertical, it must get more resistance from
the head positioning equipment.

I plan on getting a longer cord so I can lay the recorder on the floor
or my lap so it doesn't see all the bumps.
