One of my students had similar problems, so it's pretty clear that
PortMidi is not set up for VC++ Express Edition. I don't think it's that
hard to create new projects and import source files into them. The main
thing (in my experience) is to be sure the libraries and apps all use
the same code generation scheme (e.g. multithreaded, static link as
opposed to single threaded or dynamic link). I'll be happy to help track
down problems if things are not working.
If anyone else has Express Edition projects ready-to-go, please let
the list know!
