I have heard on the -L where some facilities have removed the barcode from any stickers that are printed for the patient's chart. Since the barcode maybe used in other areas of the organization, we are looking at adding an additional character to the end of the barcoded patient account number everywhere BUT the armband. This way only the patient's armband will read correctly for eMAR/BMV. In those other areas where the barcode is used, we will be looking into having the extra character dropped off or ignored when scanned for example in medical records archiving.

We would like to prevent users from scanning a barcode found on some paper documentation rather actually using the wristbands. We're preparing for BMV but are already scanning for point of care, with some users finding ways to get around scanning wristbands.
