Ubuntu switch to dash 4 years ago. It was a pain at the beginning and most of the packages were fixed a long time ago (the number of packages in Debian/Ubuntu isn't comparable to MeeGo). Patches were merged upstream to fix POSIX compliant issues. That said, there's real alternative to bash (zsh, etc...). Even if the default shell is bash v4.0, couldn't we allow POSIX compliant shells?
