My immediate thought is that a fairly straightforward userspace server
using the existing nbd API (would need CONFIG_BLK_DEV_NBD, which isn't
currently enabled) should be doable without too much work.  AFAICT it
wouldn't even require a read-only store underneath (at least not for
testing -- so it doesn't need to wait for btrfs), it just wouldn't be
able to handle changing file sizes or other directory metadata, might
confuse the client side on any re-reads of modified file data, and
would have to synthesize I/O errors for re-reads of things like
deleted or truncated files...

What about the related question about a "standard" gadget profile for
MeeGo?  Is there a need for a MeeGo-specific debugging/development
transport like adb, or are per-device features sufficient?
