Several years ago I heard of a credit card that American Express issued that
was billed directly to and paid for by the U.S. Government. We told our City
hotel's that when these cards were used they could exempt the Transient
Occupancy Tax (TOT). These cards were identified by a 15 -digit number that
started with the prefix 3783 followed by a 9.

Has anyone heard of other credit cards that are paid for directly by the
federal government and when used should also be exempt from TOT? I have a
hotel manager in town asking and I don't know what to tell him.

Thank you for your help!
