ECU's are a very delicate subject in the Car Peformance Scene..... so here
is
1) Motec
(Primarily designed for serious circuit racing - as you can see from the
features it has available to it. Expensive but good... not realistic in
terms of Street Performance and is very expensive to add extra features to.
Essentially you purchase the standard computer which basically starts your
car... if you want to add more feature to it you must get in contact with
MOTEC and they give you a serial number style code which then enable the
feature on your ECU... at a price ofcourse)
2) Haltech / Autronic
(Both are excellent units especially the new Haltech E6K... although a
little pricey compared to other competitive Programmable ECU's) Many people
don't know this but Haltech is the only ECU capable of "Real-Time" tuning,
and it is patented.... so yes it is, and will always be the only ECU you can
tune your car in while driving it - Definately not in the distance)
3) Microtech / Wolf / Most of the others
(Yes many of us would call them MICROWRECK but we have to be realistic...
for the money you pay for them they really aren't that bad... especially for
rotary style engines. They tend to have a few rumours around that they
require constant tuning but realistically what performance car doesn't)
That's my opinion anyway
