Andrew,
The early Nissan gearboxes have 2 little plastic spacers that the retaining
pin fits through to keep the stick attached to the linkage. Over time these
spacers turn to powder and allow the pin to move sideways in the linkage.
OK, the Nissan replacements are exy, so what I've used over the years as
it's the perfect size is a Hardie Pope sprinkle system 12mm T piece cut to
the correct length. Works a treat, cheap as and I've never had to replace
one again.
regards
Terry

Subject: gearbox shifter movement
List,
I was wondering if someone would be able to tell me possible
reasons for my gearbox shifter having both rotational and
longitudinal play. it can be twisted probably 5 degrees, and pulled
in and out maybe 4mm (guessing). i think it is a C210 skyline
gearbox. does anybody know how to fix it, or is it an indication that
its time to get a new one.....
thanks all in advance
andrew
