Surge Tank volume and fittings

List, I have the oppurtunity and means to make my own surge tank for my z18et conversion.  Would a volume of ~700ml be enough?  Also what fitting need to be incorporated into the tank. -inlet from supply pump -outlet for high pressure pump -inlet for high pressure return line - BREATHER????????????????????
