My condolences to Todd's family and friends. A great tragedy indeed....
The touring car guy's set up a couple of rows of tyre barriers at intervals
of around 15m or so leading up to the wall.
IF it had of been a race meet, there would have been tyres covering the end
wall AND a fire marshal stationed there. From the information I have come
across, neither of these things were available when the accident occurred.
I would have thought common sense would have prevailed - if you are doing
max speed runs down a piece of road with a concrete wall at the other end,
surely you would think to put some sort of protection there. And as for no
marshal...
A tragedy which could possibly could have been avoided......

Guys,
I've been reading the posts in the guestbook on twinturbov8.com
and there are a few posts blaming the organisers for running the track
backwards.
Now I wasn't there on the day and I know the drag strip goes the other way
but when the track is normally used that is the direction the traffic goes.
I can't quite remember and maybe someone can jog my memory, but what did
they do when the touring cars ran down the straight. Did they have a tyre
wall set up across the start area of the strip?
Also how much runoff is there at the end of the dragstrip?I have never been
down that end.
What I have just said does not excuse poor organisation and the obvious
lack
of foresight into the event. Also no amount of whinging and whineing will
bring Todd back. All we can do is make sure it doesn't happen again.
Once again Rest in Peace Todd and condolences and best wishes to his family
and his friends. May others have the guts and initiative to build what he
built.
