Justin,

It's 20 yrs since I've taken an auto out of a Datsun so I'm a bit rusty. The
torque converter bolts onto the drive plate which is the auto version of a
flywheel. The bolts that attach the converter have their heads on the engine
side of the drive plate, so rotate the engine (plugs out) and you should see
the bolts either through the starter hole or may be under the sump. Who's
taken an auto out lately?

Errol? help.

Terry

        Terry,
Thanks for your reply. The auto trans is off, but the torque
converter is still on the flywheel. I want to put a manual flywheel on it
but I cant see any bolts to undo, apart from a cylinder with flats on it in
the middle of the torque convertor. Is this what takes the conterter off?
When I tried to turn it but the crank moves. I got a mate to get a spanner
on the other side of the crank while I turned the flats on the centre of the
torque converter but it would not budge. Should I try harder? or is this the
wrong method. I cant see any way else.
        Thanks.
        Justin
