Andrew,

A 'dead-lock' like you have is a top solution.
But you'd also have to knobble the rear doors as well to have any effect.

Even with the best available locks, you only need 10 seconds or so (maximum) to open 
the door - no damage, no mess, you probably even have the necessary tool.
Works on almost all cars - specially easy on Datsuns though!

Most people know what I'm talking about - or can work it out, but we should keep MUM 
just in case the wrong type of person finds out.
