Thanks Terry. A few questions:
1. is the double bullet connector mounted to the left of the tacho, ie does
it form part of the instrument cluster wiring on the back,
Yes, it's usually Blue/White trace from the loom to the double bullet
connector.
2. do the wires have a male or female connector on the end of them,
Insulated Female on the loom side, male to the radio & cigar lighter
3. how does this normally get power to the radio, I am guessing my problem
is to do with the radio, so if the wires terminate next to the tacho where
would I be looking from there, or do the wires go to the radio first and
then into the back next to the cluster.
Power to the radio is from one side of the double bullet connector usually
Brown wire to the radio and Blue wire to the cigar lighter, the cigar
lighter earth is usually black and silver soldered to the outer part. I'd
follow the wire from the centre of the cigar lighter (also female bullet and
rarely insulated for some reason) back to the main double bullet connector
to identify the one you're after. If you haven't got the radio connected and
there is a power wire in the second side of the main accessories double
connector, I just pull it out of the connector and see if the fuse holds.
Cigar lighters are also notorious for blowing fuses too but you can test it
and see what blows.
I hope the colours are correct on your model, but if you follow point 3 it
wont matter.
