What poor handling with a FJ20 engine - it's crap as in urban myth. If you do stupid things like lowering it by a crazy amount, sure it wont handle well but that goes for an L engine or any other of them too. If you follow the guidelines in the Whiteline article, especially in regards to front/rear ride height variance (i.e. max front lower by 25mm) and get as much of everything as adjustable as you can afford, wide low profile tyres etc, your FJ powered 1600 will still out handle the majority of sports cars on the road and you wont build muscles like Arny in the process.
