Oh yeah wet roads and high powered 1600's are not a good combination, I switch into 'granny-mode' when there's a lot of water sitting on the tarmac. Still wouldn't buy a 4wd though, nowhere near as much fun to drive.On dry roads with well sorted suspension I'd rate the 1600 very highly, esp. considering its age and simple design. As Terry says there are lots of combinations that work well and adjustability with springs/shocks etc.. is worth the extra $ in the long run. If you can ask someone with a well-sorted car for a ride (or the keys:) and decide for yourself. A lot of people can generalise about cars/engines etc.. without even driving them unfortunately.
