Nat, OK, something is wrong - what datto are we talking about here Stanza? I've left the installation instructions for a 1600 (180B/Stanza/200B/S1 Bluey etc are very similar) in the post I sent earlier.
This is what you should have when the wiring is correct. +ve coil - existing ignition wire (black/green on 1600, the others I don't know what colour), pink wire from dizzy, and some options (eg tacho, radio suppressor) -ve coil - green wire from the dizzy (and options eg tacho) ballast resister wires joined together. If the dizzy has an earth it's usually connected to the mounting bolt (dizzy to timing cover), any earth point will do but it goes nowhere near either of the coil terminals.
