Brad are you talking Uk or aussie RS..??
Reason I ask is they are totally different cars the ozzie made one is just a escort sport with a cortina engine and a Masport gear box(Masport box's were made in NZ)
The real RS has alloy sump, etc, etc plus are worth a shit load.
Plus only ever came in 2 door were in ozzie you got 4 door ones as well.
 
Just like your escort van  2.0L  only place they made them was ozzie,,,in fact they even made a ????shit carnt think of the name off hand same as the holden sandman but a ford,,was it sunrunner?ford did it in escort and tranist

Best thing about Escorts is everything you ever wanted can be bought off the shelf.  Brake upgrades, quick rack steering, you name it - it's available courtesy of the Brits.  Those boys knew their shit
 
My first rally car was an RS 2000.  Top car but narrow track so they like tipping over.  I never rolled mine but came awful close a few times. 
 
I still prefer Datsuns

I have got a Ford ... escort now, sold the C210 skyline (needed tons of work) but on second hand i do have a close mate with 1600's so i think i might stay on the list now, just have to remember to check my e-mail every second day so it doesn't fill up

cheers guys, hope your not too offended with the escort choice but it was only 500 bucks, way cheaper than a 1600 and in the same sort of rally bred kind of thing
