so if i were to upgrade wheels, should i get 7" or is 6.5" preferable?

Many people think that wandering in the front end is caused by a worn
steering box. Mostly it is not the cause. Use of larger wheels/rubber puts
more strain on the steering box which then flexes the chassis rail. This
flexing is the cause of the wandering. You can get a brace to stiffen up
the steering box by connecting to the inner guard at the junction of the
strut tower.
Another cause of wandering, is bump steer caused by lowering the front to
the point where the radius arms angle up hill on bumps, steering the front
wheels as they move. A combination of both of these problems makes the
handling horrible.
